Looking for a Great Christmas Getaway? Ireland is a winner.
Ireland is cold at Christmas, but it’s a great way to knock this highly coveted destination off your bucket list!
The top three reasons people choose Ireland are:
1 – Green hills and rocky cliffs
2 – Some of the Best golfing on the planet
3 – Gorgeous Castle hotels
So why is Ireland at Christmas a better trip?
It’s off season, so you beat the crowds and soak in some of the old world Christmas cheer too!
And don’t forget the off season deals!
Have a pint in Dublin at the Bank on College Green with it’s high ceilings and friendly locals.
Fill up on a classic Irish breakfast!
Then wander the strests of Dublin.
Now it’s time to explore the countryside.
Head over to The Cliffs of Mohrer and stop in Bunratty on the way. They have some quaint shops with beautiful wool scarves, wraps and sweaters sheared from local sheep.
It will be windy and cold on the Cliffs of Mohrer but it won’t be crowded! Bring your gloves and scarves and enjoy the place to yourself.
Stop off at a few castles along the way and even stay the night. Â Dromoland was one of my favorites.
Seeing the castle decorated for Christmas is breathtaking and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Take a hot toddy and sit by the fire. You will feel like  a member of the royal family.
There decorations are lavish and if you get lucky you may catch a fox hunt in the nearby forest.
Marvel at the Christmas tree in the lobby.
Next it’s off to Golf at the only 5 star property on the ocean, Trump Doonbeg.
The hotel is relatively new but has an old world feel. It’s Ralph Lauren cozy and the ocean makes for one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever had.
The huge fireplace in the entry way is magnificent. Â Hot mulled wine and then off to get a quick bite.
Hit the golf course…
Or just watch the golf from the cozy bar as the sun sets.
The rooms are large and include a fireplace.
The most relaxing vacation! Â Perfect way to end the trip watching the sunset.
Then wake up to a glorious breakfast and watch another pink sky as the sunrises across the dunes.
After a nice spa it’s time to head back home.
Hope you enjoyed my Irish tour.
tá fáilte romhat!
