Why You Should Book your Holiday Travel starting September 25th

Christmas tree on the streets of Vienna

We haven’t even set out the pumpkins for Halloween so why are we talking about Christmas already?  Because now is the time to book your holiday travel!

Whether it’s Thanksgiving at the grandparents house or Christmas at sea, the airfare and Christmas cruise prices are really best booked right now.

Studies have shown that the best time to start booking air is starting September 25th – October 27th.

This is also a good time to get deals on holiday cruises and holiday travel because  back to school ad football season is keeping families distracted from spending money on travel.

So if you are looking for a good deal.  Start booking your holiday trip now (if you have not done so already!).

If you book with me or a travel agent you can often get discounts with bulk air pricing, free air add-ons and more.

Best Time to book Airline Tickets for Holiday Travel

Probably the question I get asked most is ‘when is the best day to buy my airline tickets?’.  And it’s never an easy answer.

The airlines release rate 9-10 months prior to departure.  I usually wait until 7-8 months in advance.  However, it all depends on competition and availability and the prices can change regularly. United has an alert notification when flights you like have gone down in price, so I recommend you turn that on in your app.

The data for best holiday ticket pricing is between September 25th – October 27th; however, you will find the best tickets early.  And try a Tuesday – Tuesday or Thursday – Thursday.  Other more popular departure dates like Saturday – Saturday or Sunday – Sunday will cost more.  If you can fly on the night of Thanksgiving or Christmas Eve, you can get really good deals and possibly a plane with empty seats!

However, the BEST pricing on air, including non-published air, discount air and FREE air are easily found when you book a package or cruise with a travel agent like me!  I got some discounted first class tickets for my client with a hotel rolled in and they only had to pay a $200 deposit and pay the rest in November.

How do I get Discounted Air?

Probably the easiest way to get discounted air is to book a cruise.  There are so many discounts, on board credits and deals to be had, you can get the UNPUBLISHED group air like Viking River cruises $649 RT economy to Europe.  Norwegian Cruise Lines has FREE air if you book by the end of the month.  Or look at this great deal on Celebrity Cruises:
